Linda Celestian and Kyle Ripp June 2 through June 27, 2010 Linda Celestian’s work is strongly influenced by the beauty and life force of natural elements. The title of the show “Crash, Hush…” refers to the dichotomous nature of waves, slowly building to a loud crescendo as they reach the shore and then softly receding. She depicts the movement and energy observed in nature with the technique of layered spills, pours and splatters of thinned oil paint. Her multi component sculpture made of dyed silk organza and wool represents the organic flow and movement of the ocean. Kyle Ripp's images are everyday, ordinary objects including playground equipment, amusement park rides, household items, animals, and spiritual images. The images become symbolic according to their placement in the composition. The perspective of the composition immediately draws the viewer into a narrative. The narrative is seen through the eyes of a child; it is large, powerful and looming. Discover our Studio Artists Funding provided by |
