Winter/Spring 2012
FREE Family Programs at the DCCA
Construction Junction
Sunday, February 19, Noon – 3 pm
Inspired by the DCCA exhibition Under Construction, participants will construct the biggest “building block” tower ever to be installed at the DCCA! Then families will move to the DCCA classroom to create their own “constructed” sculptures with a Teaching Artist.
Home, Sweet Home
Sunday, March 18, Noon – 3 pm
What’s better than curling up with a big bowl of ice cream? Making art out of it! Join the DCCA for a day of sweet treats and art making as we explore the many artistic uses for our favorite sugary foods.
Tremendous Trash
Sunday, April 22, Noon – 3 pm
Put your wastebasket to work with collaborative, found object installations and sculpture. Participants will work with a DCCA Teaching Artist to transform ordinary discards like milk jugs and broken shoelaces into tremendous one-of-a-kind creations!
Bright Lights, Big ART
Sunday, May 20, Noon – 3 pm
Be inspired by the sights and sounds of the big city! Using geometric forms children will work with a DCCA Teaching Artist to make a city of their own, and then make a BOOM with other families as we make your world come to life with sound!
