DCCA: Events: small art BIG AUCTION Artist Donation Letter

Summer 2010

Dear Artist Friend,

The Delaware Center for the Contemporary Arts is organizing an exciting event, Small Art/Big Auction, to be held on the evening of Saturday, October 23, 2010. The event will benefit the education and exhibition programs of the DCCA.

We would be honored if you would donate an original piece of art for this important fundraising event. The DCCA will provide a sturdy 8” x 10” sheet of archival paper that can be picked up at the front desk during museum hours. If you’re unable to get to the DCCA, please feel free to supply your own archival material. The completed work must be 8” x 10”, weigh less than 1 lb, and its orientation can be horizontal or vertical. The final piece must be an unframed and unmatted original work in any medium—from drawing to photography, from painting to printmaking, from collage to video still.

We ask that you NOT sign the front of the work, but the back, so that part of the fun during the event will be for patrons to choose works they really want to own, independent of who made them. These small works on paper will be on exhibition at the DCCA in advance of the event so that patrons can have the opportunity to determine which works they want to acquire.

Please email Watsuki Harrington, our new Curatorial Coordinator, at wharrington@thedcca.org as soon as possible to let her know of your intended participation. The completed artwork will need to arrive at the DCCA by September 3, 2010. The fundraiser on October 23rd will be a lively party, and, in recognition of your donation to the DCCA, you will be given a discount rate for up to two tickets at the participating artist rate of $25 per ticket. The regular member ticket price is $75 each.
